Sorry I have been away so long. I wish I had more time to spend on my blog, unless that means getting hurt or sick to do so, never mind! Just thought I would show you a pic of a resent baby shower our church gave; when I say resent I mean within the last six months. Of course we had a farm theme. Each table was a little different. The candy apples were fun to make. This was my very first candy apple making experience and a dear friend was doing most of the work. So, it is a little questionable as to whether I made candy apples or not. (:
You can see a little of the food table in the back. We had stuffed eggs, chicken sandwiches, cheese sandwiches, pasta salad, fruit salad, veggies and a tray of mini cheese cakes. It was a fun day with games and gifts for mom and baby. We have had other projects but I still have no good camera. This was taken with my phone.
Have fun being creative and "Smile- sunshine is good for the teeth".
It has been a great deal of fun. I must say I had gotten away from making miniatures. I use to do it quite often before I made my finale painting. But in this case these are the final works of art. We will be placing them around the centerpiece of each table. The centerpiece will be a tin pail filled with an assortment of red, yellow and white flowers. The main flower however will be the red poppy. The poppy is by far my favorite flower as well as the peony.I made twelve paintings in all. Perhaps I will take one of the miniature paintings and make a large one.Hope these inspire you to be creative.LEMONS TO LEMONADEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11203839639730214442noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936250775509569187.post-50800898446304500102012-03-20T13:32:00.003-07:002012-03-20T13:39:35.790-07:00Bookmarks
More bookmarks hope you like them. This one has had it all my pics are blurry. With that said, my newest project is making bookmarks. This is a pen and ink done on wet canvas. The canvas is not wet but you can use wet mediums on it such as ink and watercolor. I do not have the time to do many large projects, bookmarks I can handle. You might think, big or small what difference does it make, you could just do it when you have the time. The problem is when I draw or paint I tend to zone out and can think of nothing else, small projects can be done and finished and I want ignore my family.
It has been a long time sense I have worked with pen and ink; I had to practice some before getting started. Adding color to the cape was scary, but it turned out alright, I just need a finer pen next time. I have started a new pen and ink bookmark but I am doing it on heavy watercolor paper. I am trying to decide what I like best. I would like to get some prints of the bookmarks and maybe sale some. Hope you are finding ways to be creative. I think I need to make me some. I got the pic and recipe from honey&jam.com. Go over and check out the web site great pics and food.

Whole Grain Pumpkin Pancakes
Adapted from 101 cookbooks

2 cups white whole wheat flour (or unbleached all-purpose flour)
1 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup natural granulated sugar (evaporated cane sugar)
1/2 teaspoon fine grain sea salt
1 tablespoons pumpkin pie spice*
1 1/4 cups organic buttermilk
1 cup pumpkin puree**
2 large organic eggs, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter, melted (melt in the pan skillet you are going to use)
butter, to serve (and for pan)

To make the pancakes combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, spice and salt in a large bowl. Add the buttermilk, pumpkin, eggs, and melted butter. Stir all the ingredients until they are just combined. Don't worry if the batter is a bit lumpy, you don't want to over mix.

Heat your skillet, pan, or griddle to medium-hot and brush it with a bit of butter. Test for the right temperature. If a drop of water dropped onto the pan starts to dance, you are in the ballpark. Pour about 1/3 of a cup of batter into the skillet. Wait until the pancake bottom is deep golden in color, then flip with a spatula and cook the other side until golden and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve with Apple Maple Compote .
Makes about 12 large pancakes.

*don’t have an pumpkin pie spice? Its easy to make your own! Here’s a recipe.
**pumpkin pie puree is different from pumpkin pie filling. Both are in the same section of the grocery store, so be sure to get the plain pumpkin!

Apple Maple Compote

This is just about the most simple thing ever, hardly a recipe at all.

Apples
Butter
Cinnamon
Maple Syrup

Firstly, I’d plan on using about 1/2 an apple per person. Cut the apple into slices.

Next, add a pat of butter to a medium sized pan, enough to coat the entire thing. Next, add the apples to the pan and sprinkle the cinnamon over. Let the apples get soft, turning them over once, and sprinkling the other side with cinnamon. Add enough maple syrup to cover the apples. Let it bubble away for a minute or so. Pour over warm pancakes.LEMONS TO LEMONADEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11203839639730214442noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936250775509569187.post-9049808978118523072011-12-21T13:01:00.000-08:002011-12-22T05:03:20.929-08:00Red

Above images: 1.& 3.Shop: Toast 2.The Paper Mulberry - vintage farm tools 4. Just to bring a little bit of joy to someone else brings the greatest pleasure. It is not just the gift I like, it is the packaging also; making that gift special for each person. Today it is so easy to just go out and buy paper, gift bags and purchase a card.We do not take the time to put ourselves into anything anymore. Hear is a simple idea.

I used buttons, ribbon, a hot glue gun, brown packaging paper and a box that had a separate lid.

I wrapped the lid and box separate

I did find and buy( yes I bought it ready made, only because it was perfect), a blank flower card. These stands had rounded edges and you need flat edges on the plates for cup cakes. We put glass over each cake plate trimmed with eyelet. The cup cakes are topped with birds nests filled with blue and green candy almonds. The nests are made from toasted coconut. Some of the eggs have hatched and so there are chicks on some . We purchased scrap book paper in 5 different patterns to make birds, a banner, and other various decorations. You can see one of the little birds sitting on the table. His feet were made from swigs we hot glued into a v shape.The idea was to make the decorations have a patch quilt design, different papers but having coordinated colors . The bird house roof is covered with the scrapes of paper left from making the birds and banner.

We filled aqua blue canning jars with fresh flowers from the yard and some weeds I pulled up from the side of the road.

These are hydrangeas from my sisters house; the pink water in the bowl was made with red and blue food coloring . I was not out there five min. when I broke my ankle. We were skating outside and it had snowed. There was 2ft. of snow in front of the railing and I could not get to it. Stuff the bird with the lemon half, celery, and onion. Salt and pepper the bird and place it on the rack inside your roasting pan. You do not want the bird sitting directly on the pan in the juice. Poor water or a water juice mixture in the roasting pan. You may need to add more liquid as it cooks. Cook approximately 50 min. or until juice runs clear. Temperature of chicken should be 165 degrees at the thigh . This is the correct temperature, my husband is a USDA food inspector. Garnish and serve. He said the gods which are in the thousands are like men: they fight, envy, become jealous, and are bitter towards one another etc. Of course this is in the minds of the Indian people. But I was thinking how sad it is to have no hope. Their gods bring no hope to them and there is no hope for a home in heaven, sense they believe in reincarnation. How great that we have a God that is not like a man for he is merciful when he could consume us, and he is compassionate when we do not deserve it. His mercies and compassion are new every day. I decided to make my own. It was a lot of fun, but it did take a little time. I even made an envelope. For the art work I did pen and ink; it was very simple but it worked nicely. I used card stock and printed the poem on velum which I then glued to the card stock at the top. The drawing I glued to black card stock and some scrap book paper, which I had on hand. The black strip at the bottom is just a piece of card stock that I glued onto the velum.

For the envelope I used brown light weight packaging paper and lined it with hand made tissue paper. The tissue paper has pressed dried leaves in it; I found it at the Dollar Tree. The tissue paper also made the envelope sturdy. To make the envelope, I took a pre-made envelope apart to see how it was constructed; then I took measurements of my card and made a pattern to fit. I then glued it together along the sides. The flowers on the outside of the card are also made out of the same tissue paper and some seed beads. I also continued the same vine pattern from the card to the envelope.LEMONS TO LEMONADEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11203839639730214442noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936250775509569187.post-79152678023535019602009-12-17T13:06:00.000-08:002009-12-18T19:07:21.955-08:00Painting My children, that is two of them anyway, take piano. On other days of the week she and her cousin continue the cake business that their grandmother left them. She lives in what I believe to be her grandmothers old house. The house is one of those farm houses with the big country porch with swings and rockers; you know, were people use to stop and visit one another. The good old slow days ,where people took time to relax. The house is situated on the top of a hill overlooking pastures. The sky just seems so much bigger up there. My boys take piano, mom relaxes, and enjoys the beauty of God's creation. If Lynn knew how much I enjoyed her yard she might charge me for therapy.(: In the warmer months there seems to always be a cool breeze blowing up the hill. I had my camera with me and could not resist. The sky was a bright cobalt blue, as you can see from the photo. It was just breathtaking! Latter I decided to paint Lynn's blooms, and God's sky (yes, I know the blooms are God's, all of creation was created by him and for him, but you get what I mean.(: This painting was the most fun and relaxing; I did not worry with drawing it all out, I just painted. I enjoy impressionist painting; I know this disturbs some of my friends, but I love the bright colors, and the technique. I most enjoy works by Claude Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Degas and Seurat. (: I know my realist friends may not appreciate this as much, but thank you for loving me anyway. This painting puts a smile on my face every time I look at it and it brings me back to relaxing moments in Lynn's yard.(:

LEMONS TO LEMONADEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11203839639730214442noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936250775509569187.post-3990898752628964502009-12-12T12:00:00.000-08:002009-12-12T12:00:01.483-08:00The Journey

Lord let me stay within your hands
Keep me oh Lord from devising my own plans.
May I continue to give myself fully unto you;
For I know that is what you desire for me to do.

Lord may I be obedient to thy word;
So I may not reap wrongs I have stored.
For your blessings are on me
When that still small voice I hear;
But when I turn my eyes towards the world
My heart is filled with fear.

Elohim He is my Creator
El Elyon my all sovereign Lord
El Roi sees my innermost being
El Shaddi my all- sufficient one.

My Lord has many names
But my Lord God, He is one.
May I learn to love and trust in Him;

On this journey, We have only just begun.
LEMONS TO LEMONADEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11203839639730214442noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7936250775509569187.post-86398088739440936912009-12-10T11:00:00.000-08:002009-12-10T11:00:01.107-08:00Around the House

Red is my favorite color. But she also understands that sometimes she isn't even aware of what her deepest desires are! God, however, does. He knows everything about her, after all, He created her. She steers clear of trying to understand His ways and avoids feeling discouraged when she can't see Him in action. Instead, she delights in trusting that God is always up to something good where she's concerned; whether it has to do with her earthly home or her heavenly one! What is your biggest dream at this time? What evidence of God moving to fulfill your dream have you seen in your life? Even if that dream does not happen right away remember that God is preparing for it. David was anointed king when he was young. It was many years before he would sit on the throne ruling as king over God's people but God was preparing David for his future task. So what does all of this mean? Be patient, and wait on God. " Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
LEMONS TO LEMONADEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11203839639730214442noreply@blogger.com1
